Most people don't remember death. Or like to think the Death Angel will skip them, or they can bribe him.
Talking of mercy, you will never be forgiven until you start forgiving people. It may be a very hard thing to do, but there is no other way to move forward. If you don't forgive, you will only go in reverse.
Some things are not forgivable, but most are.
Everyone makes mistakes. I'd say lets forgive and start a new beginning. Only then will we be able to qualify for God's mercy.
